At long last, Alberto Gonzales has resigned. Good riddance. I hope and pray that the Congressional Democrats will follow through with all of the investigations they have started. Fredo must not be allowed to slink out of the Justice Department to a highly lucrative partnership at a D.C. law firm without paying for the crimes he’s committed. This man oversaw the systematic dismantling of the checks and balances in our legal system that we as Americans take for granted. And even with the investigations, we won’t really be able to know the scope of the damage until all of these disgusting people are out of power. How many days is it until January 2009?
And what a coincidence (not!) that the announcement was made on the same day that former Atlanta Falcon quarterback Michael Vick pleaded guilty for dog-fighting related crimes. Fredo and Chucklehead’s minions knew full well that the press would fail to give the resignation the coverage it deserved, because the press was diverted by Vick’s plea like a cat distracted by a ball on a string. As much as I despise the minions, I must give them credit for knowing how to play the game.
